MARK 10:13-16

“People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.”‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:13-16

When we started our vbs preparations these verses set our foundation. Personally these words of Jesus really was my biggest motivator and gave me purpose and drive for this vbs. Today was the last day, we finished strong and I believe we walked out these verses and brought them to life.

In our ending service we had a time where I shared the gospel with all the kids and asked if they wanted to accept Jesus in their lives and receive salvation. Almost every single kid raised their hand. The staff team got in a line and prayed over each kid and welcomed them to the Kingdom.

From the bottom of my heart this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. As I was explaining to the kids what just happened and what this meant to God I couldn’t help but cry. Tears of joy were rolling down my face because I couldn’t help but rejoice in what god has done.

I truly believe that God did something special. He has planted seeds, called His children home and brought them into a loving relationship. This made absolutely everything worth it. That moment was what we all worked so hard for this week, to witness salvation and see the gospel and love of Jesus shower these children. Praise God for what He has done!

GRACE, MERCY & JESUS!

I can’t believe it will already be almost three months since I’ve been the children’s ministry pastor. Time flies! It’s been one awesome ride to this point and I feel like it’s only getting better.

Every month we go through a new series for sermon and Study. February was creation/God as the Creator, March was the fall/sin and since this month is Easter we are focusing on Jesus! This may sound cliche but the gospel, salvation and Jesus are my absolute favorite things to preach and teach on. So as I was preparing last night I couldn’t help but be extremely excited for today’s children’s service.

The theme title for this month is “My Jesus” and today’s subtitle was “Mercy & Grace”. Since we talked about our sin last month I wanted to start this month with the gospel message, what salvation is and how God has poured out His love on us with overflowing grace and mercy through His son Jesus Christ.

Last month with focusing on sin, it really hit the kids and opened their eyes to their own sinfulness. So as I was preaching about how Jesus is the one who has saved us from those heavy sins and burdens of our lives I saw all the kids eyes light up. They were in awe to encounter the gospel and understand the immense love of God and what the cross means for them.

I’m that moment I witnessed our children be overwhelmed by the love of Christ and encounter grace and mercy. It was such a powerful moment to see some of these kids experience and accept the gospel for the first time. I knew without a doubt this morning that God finger of love was on every single heart in that room.

THE DREAM OF SHARING THE GOSPEL

I was flipping through Facebook when I saw someone share a video of a very famous Korean rapper giving an award speech. I personally really like him for many reasons so I gave it a watch. I thought it was just going to be a common speech but what he did blew my mind.

So his name is Bewhy and he got famous off of a Korean rap audition show last year by winning the whole thing. The reason so many people including myself like him is because he is extremely unorthodox compared to all other famous rappers in Korea. The reason being is because he doesn’t talk about all the typical things rappers talk about, rather his lyrics are driven by his faith. From what I know he is one of the only Korean rappers that are outspoken about his Christianity and where his lyrics are majority about his walk in faith, the gospel or his testimony.

Korea is a nation driven by pop culture and is extremely secular. So to have someone like him make it as big as he has without being secular but focusing on God is mind blowing and amazing to me. He uses his gift and the platform given to be a messenger of the gospel and be a missionary.

During his award speech he said he has always had a dream since he began his career in music and he wanted to fulfill that dream during the speech. His dream was to share verses from John 1. He spoke the verses and told the crowd that he wanted to share to everyone the truth that he lives by.

This is something that is not seen or heard of within Korean pop culture. Korean media is really sensitive about being censored when it comes to religion but he didn’t care and was courageous enough to use this stage to fulfill his dream in sharing the gospel. I was truly inspired by his actions and his heart. It’s crazy that his dream after achieving fame was to read scripture and share the gospel on live television. Seeing someone like him step forward and be unashamed of who he was in Christ really touched my heart. He has encouraged me to have that same dream, to have the desire to share the gospel wherever I am no matter what circumstance and be a messenger of Christ. He has represented Romans 1:16 and I aspire to do the same.
