WHEN PRAYERS BECOME REALITY

I can’t believe it’s already been 4 weeks since we have been preparing for our VBS. It has been a long and busy 4 weeks but honestly a really enjoyable time. God gave me a true conviction from the beginning of preparation, I do the best of my ability on my part and have faith and trust in God and He will do the rest. That was our big prayer topic during or vbs prayer meetings, fully trusting in God to work in the hearts of our kids and parents so His children can take one step closer to Him. Another big prayer point we’ve been praying about was for this vbs to be a ministry and bridge to spread the gospel to kids who God really desires to have a relationship with.

One thing I haven’t been focusing on at all was the number of attendees. To be honest I was convicted from the beginning that I will give it my all if it’s for 1 kid or for 100. The number didn’t matter. But through that I believe God moved and revealed that He is wanting to do the unexpected.

Just about a month ago I was expecting about 15 kids to be at our vbs. Due to busy schedules and people being out of town a lot of our kids can’t come to our vbs. But through the grace of God He has opened opportunities for other kids in the community to register for our vbs and now we are expecting over 30 kids. That’s crazy.

There are these two brothers in my children’s ministry who I really really wanted to come to vbs since they have never attended before. I thought it would be a great experience for them and would be a huge stepping stone in their faith. But their dad told me a month or so ago that they will be going to Korea right after school is out so they couldn’t come.

But randomly last Sunday their dad came up to me and said He’s really been contemplating about pushing back their flight so their kids could come and he said he would get back to me. This morning I woke up to an email from him saying that they will be going to Korea on a later date so they could attend vbs. Praise God!!

IT’S NOT ABOUT “EASY”

Today has been one of the most exhausting Sundays I’ve had in a while but at the same time one of the most rewarding. Preaching for first service, leading children’s service followed by two meetings. There were a handful of challenges today, moments where I’ve found room for growth and improvement but through it all I was able to truly witness fruit in my ministries and see God in it all.

I can’t believe it’s already been a few months since I’ve taken the position as the children’s pastor. Each Sunday I am reminded how much I love doing this and how this is what God has called me to do. But with it being my first time leading children’s ministry I am facing new challenges and difficulties in ministry that I’ve never faced before. The reality is that it’s not easy whatsoever but it’s not about it being easy. Through the hard times and personal struggles I wintess God’s fruit which makes it all worth it.

Today we continued on focusing on Jesus and what He has done for us on the cross and through the resurrection. I taught the kids about repentance and forgiveness and we had a time to write our sins on paper, nail it to the cross, watch them burn away and pray a prayer of repentance. Moments like today, seeing the kids take new steps in their faith really brings a smile to my face and gives me motivation to keep doing better in my ministry.
