One of my younger brothers from church who I mentor goes to university with me now. His first semester as a freshman is coming to a close and I am very proud of him. He really has been growing in many aspects and continues to surprise me.
A concern and desire he had was to have a good community at school. Him being a commuter and myself as well, I know that it’s not the easiest task to find a community when you don’t live on campus. But that is something I really hoped for, that he would be able to have a group of friends at school he can do life with and lean on.
After my final class of the day one of my friends and I went to the student lounge to go do some homework together. As I sat down someone tapped me on the shoulder and it was him. I was surprised because he usually goes home around noon on mondays but it was past 3 and he was still there. I asked him why he was still at school and he said “hanging out with friends”.
That truly put a smile on my face. I couldn’t help but keep looking over my shoulder and seeing him hanging out and laughing with his fellow classmates. I’m so thankful that he is starting to find his community and make new friends.
I saw God today.
